The American anthology TV series Fargo will be back with its fourth season in 2020. The series belonging to the back comedy-drama genres last had its stint in April 2017. Fargo draws its inspiration from the 1996 movie of the same name. The series has a different plotline each season and is the brainchild of Noah Hawley. In 2012, it was announced that the Coen brothers had been roped in as executive producers for the series.

Fargo first came out on April 15, 2014, starred Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman, Allison Tolman, and Colin Hanks. Each season of the series is set in different timelines in different backgrounds and different characters.

The first season opened up to huge critical acclaim. It won many accolades, such as the Golden Globe and Primetime Emmys. This includes the top categories, such as for Best Mini-Series for the series and the Best Actor award for Billy. It also won Outstanding Directing and Casting awards at the Emmy.

The success was followed by two more seasons. The second season came out in 2015 and the third in 2017. These seasons too met with equal reception from the critics and fans. The series altogether has won 51 of all the 226 nominations it had.

After season 3, Noah Hawley hinted about the series coming to an end. He spoke about the limits stories belonging to that thread may have. But he added that he didn’t think about season 2 at the time of the first season, and the same had happened for season 3 at the time of season 2. So, it was open that when there come the right time and idea, the series would return.

So soon, the series was renewed for a fourth season. Fargo season 4 will have a new set of cast owing to the usual pattern and is set in Missouri. Jason Schwartzman, Chris Rock, Timothy Olyphant, Ben Whishaw, and Jessie Buckley are some of them.

The new season was supposed to release on April 19, 2020. But due to the coronavirus pandemic which has gripped the world, the plans had to be altered. The release date was postponed indefinitely as the post-production works are yet to be finished. So, the release may be pushed on to 2021 if the pandemic is not under control before July.

But let’s keep our hopes alive. The series doesn’t disappoint no matter how long we wait, and we hope they will repeat that feat yet again.
