Veronica Roth is a novelist and short-story writer. Her prominent work, Chosen One, is for the adult audience. Her other works are the “Divergent trilogy (Divergent, Insurgent, and Allegiant).” The trilogy was one of her remarkable masterpieces and became New York Times’ best selling series. She selected five best short stories from the trilogy and published in the name “Four: A Divergent Collection.” All her works are creative and have a significant place in modern literature.
The story begins with the heroes defeating their enemy Dark One. These otherworldly creatures destroyed the world’s prosperity and peace. Sloane, Matt, Ines, Albie, and Esther are the five skilled teens brought together by the Clandestine government. One of them was destined to be the chosen one, and it was a matter of fact to find out who it was. The Dark one and its evil powers were believed to be wiped off from the earth, but the story doesn’t end there.
Everything turns around when unexpected incidents happen again. After a decade, when the world seems to have overcome the fears and misery of the past, things take an unwanted twist, and this leads the story. When everyone enjoyed their life, Sloane remembered everything. She could feel the pain and wrath the agony has created. She could also sense how life was for them after saving the world. Above all, the Dark One, it’s very own thought sent chills down her spine.
All the agony from the past and the fear to move on made her life miserable and aimless. Unlike the other members, who were having the best of their lives, Sloane was tormented by the bad days—adding to the struggle an unexpected attack was made on the eve of the celebration. Shocked by the death of one of their members, they realize that the evils have returned, and the danger was never ended.
