The American comedy series Shrill recently had its second season on Hulu. And, as its first season, this too is fast on its way to being a fan favorite. The series will have a third season. Hulu has renewed the series for a season 3 as on March 31, 2020.
Shrill first came out on March 15, 2019. It’s based on the 2016 novel named Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman authored by Lindy West. Lindy West is also part of the series as one of its Executive producers. Aidy Bryant stars as the protagonist Annie Eastin.
The first season opened up to largely positive reviews. Rotten Tomatoes gave the series a rating of a staggering 91% from its critics. This was something significant and marvelous from a series of such a humble setting. Metacritic, which tend to be thrifty in ratings gave it a 74% rating. It also had an eight score from IMDB. This wonderful reception from the critics, as well as the fans, prompted Hulu to go for a renewal.
A second season followed on January 24, 2020. And this too met with a similar reception. Critics lauded the series for its portrayal of the subject. The social stigma and body shaming surrounding fat people and their physique was something that had to be addressed. Women are more prone to such cases in society. And, the series has done a good job in doing that. Aidy Bryant played her role in an outstanding manner giving completion to the character and the series.
So, two months after the release of the second season Hulu announced that the series would be renewed for a third season. As of now, we can just say that in the third season, we may see more of Annie’s skills as a freelance journalist. They haven’t revealed an exact date for the release of the series. But our best guess is the end of 2020 or the beginning of 2021. It might have come out sooner had it not been for the ongoing global crisis. But, the fans are ready to wait. And when the series does finally come out, they really hope that it would fare as well or even better than the rest.
