Irfan Khan, one of the most prominent actors in Bollywood cinema tragically passed away on Wednesday due to a colon infection.
The 53-year-old actor suffered a colon infection on Tuesday and was immediately rushed to Mumbai’s Kokilaben hospital where he had been staying in an Intensive Care Unit. Irfan Khan had a long history of medical complications as he has been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor. A statement was missed on Wednesday confirming the untimely demise of the nation’s most beloved actor.
Life of Pi actor had fought against the diseases till the very end and was a heck of a strong soul who always inspired others to grow and evolve. As the news of his death surfaced on Wednesday morning, various actors and filmmakers around the globe sent prayers to rest his soul in peace and sent few mourning messages to the actor’s closed ones.
Irfan Khan is Bollywood’s gem who kicked off his 30-year-long career from a 1988’s Salaam Bombay! in a small role. The actor had his breakthrough role in the Hindi cinema from the 2004 Indian crime drama, Maqbool. The prime minister of India also expressed his sadness to the death of Khan and claimed that his death was a great loss in world cinema and theatre. He also mentioned that the actor would be forever in our hearts for his versatile performances among various genres of film-making.
Of course, he is a veteran actor in Hindi Cinema but he had created his fame and popularity in Hollywood movies too. He actually created a bridge between Bollywood and Hollywood for even aspiring future young actors and actresses. He appeared in Academy Award-winner films like Slumdog Millionaire and Life of Pi.
Due to his brilliant work in Indian cinema, he was awarded Padma Shri–the fourth highest civilian award in India– in 2011 and received few Filmfare Awards for his outstanding works in selected filmography.
