Disney seems to be on a spree of live-action remakes of all its iconic movies, and this trend is too catchy to give a miss, as the remakes continue to appear in theatres, some fans have wondered if these films really measure up to their animated originals.
These movies do make money for Disney, but their nature still remains the talking point. With Mulan being all set to release on 27 March this year, and the other remakes in the past year like the lady and the tramp, Aladdin, Maleficent 2.
Disney’s all set to give us more remakes and The little mermaid is one of them that we are aspiring to watch. The Little Mermaid is a delight – a visual musical and overall appeasing experience to our senses, and the remake that is planned would have to uphold the standard of the original animated movie.
The plot for the same though has not been finalized yet, and there is no way to forecast the plot as Disney has dealt with the remake plots of all the films in different ways.
The cast for the remake seems very promising with Halle Bailey, the star of the music duo CHLOE X HALLE roped in to play Ariel. The African American actors shut down all the criticism for being cast while stating that playing this character is bigger and greater than her.
Jodi Benson, who voiced Ariel in the original, has backed the casting of Bailey while stating that the spirit of the character is what really matters. With the casting of Ariel finalized the casting of Prince Eric had a lot of conflicts with Harry Styles turning it down and then taken by Hauer King only resulting to a tweet by Christian Navarro who wanted to toss his hat and in the ring by expressing his discontent with the casting and Disney not being enough bold and diverse in their choices.
