Star Trek: Discovery is one of the many shows continuing the legacy of the original Star Trek. The series was created by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman. The show was developed for CBS All Access. This is the first series in the Star Trek lineage after Star Trek: Enterprise ended in 2005 and the seventh overall series. Star Trek: Discovery is about Michael Burnham and her companions in the USS Discovery as they travel to new reaches of space to discover and have encounters with different species from very different planets. The show went on to have unprecedented success and brought in a record subscription for CBS All Access. So the show was unquestionably renewed for a third season. But there have been some changes in the guard as there will be a new showrunner for the newest season. Michelle Paradise has been roped in along with Alex Kurtzman and is in charge of the newest season of this hit. Here is what else we know about it.
When Will, The New Season, Be Up?
As of yet, we do not have a confirmed date from CBS All Access. Season one was aired in 2017 September and season two around early 2019. So there is no set pattern, as of yet. But from the miracle that is the internet, we do know that season three has been written fully. So it all depends on filming as to when the show would be up. But it is generally accepted that the newest season will drop in 2020.
Who Can All Be Expected To Be Back?
While there are not a lot of cast reveals, we do know that these faces will be back for the next discovery. Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green), Saru (Doug Jones), Paul Stamets (Anthony Rapp), Sylvia Tilly (Mary Wiseman), Nhan (Rachael Ancheril), Dr. Hugh Culber (Wilson Cruz), Nilsson (Sara Mitich), Gen Rhys (Patrick Kwok-Choon), Keyla Detmer (Emily Coutts), Joann Owosekun (Oyin Oladejo), RA Bryce (Ronnie Rowe), Jett Reno (Tig Notaro) and Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh).
The newest additions Anson Mount (Christopher Pike) and Ethan Peck (Spock), are also expected to be back. We also have confirmation on a new series regular Cleveland Booker, or Book played by David Ajala.
