Sony Delays the Release of The Last of Us Part II After Major Leaks Appeared Online

Sony Interactive Entertainment delayed the release of the upcoming action-adventure game, The Last of Us Part II again, after significant leaks involving the game’s story and gameplay swirled through the Internet. However, the developer and publisher announced the delay is due to logistics issues, primarily caused by ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

A notorious and anonymous Naughty Dog employee shared the video footage of the game that includes cut scenes, plot, and gameplay details. Naughty Dog later issued an official statement in their Twitter account and claimed that it was disappointing to watch the spoilers and leaks. The studio also ensured the fans that even it was unfair to them, and no matter what fans see on those leaks, the final and ultimate gaming experience will be worth it.

Neil Druckmann, the creative director for the sequel of 2013’s critically acclaimed PlayStation Exclusive, also reacted to the leaks and spoilers. He tweeted that the whole leaking-thing has made fans and all the dedicated workers at the studio that devoted years to develop the game, heartbroken and shattered. A spokesperson from Sony Interactive Entertainment has asked fans to avoid viewing or sharing the unauthorized pre-launch footage across the Internet.

The much-awaited adventure game follows a story of a 19-year-old Ellie who comes in conflict with the mysterious Christian cult. The game is set in the post-apocalyptic United States, and it is played in a third-person perspective. The players have to fight the monsters and cannibalistic creatures with the help of weapons and fan-favorite stealth to defend them. The game has been criticized for extreme violence but came clean and widely received for mesmerizing gameplay and survival horror elements.

The story leaks were quickly taken down by Sony, but still, fans can find spoiler breakdown online and ultimately ruin their gaming experience. The game is scheduled to release on June 19, 2020, which would be a PlayStation Exclusive. The game would be later ported to upcoming PlayStation 5 after Sony officially announced the release of highly anticipated gaming console.
