Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds Again Teaming Up For Skydance’s New Time-Travel Project After This Year’s Free Guy

Renowned director, Shawn Levy, who had directed popular and critically acclaimed movies like The Pink Panther and Night at the Museum, has finally returned to his business. Shawn Levy recently directed the science-fiction action comedy film, Free Guy starring Ryan Reynolds for the first time since 2014. Now, the director is back in his business after five long years, he has already committed to three more films—one of them will see Levy reteaming with Ryan Reynolds.

The next feature film from the director would be an untitled time-travel adventure project teaming with actor Ryan Reynolds and with the same team from 2020’s game adventure, Free Guy. The movie that was previously entitled, Our Name Is Adam, will be produced for the production company, Skydance Media.

David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger (who had produced Mission Impossible films) will serve as the producer along with Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy, and George Dewey. Dewey is producing through Maximum Effort banner (owned by Ryan Reynolds). Skydance and Paramount, both tried to develop the project once titled Our Name Is Adam since 2012, but the project always had been in and out.

The creator of Cinemax’s action series Banshee, Jonathan Tropper, will pen down the project. Tropper and Levy had already worked together—Levy’s 2014 comedy-drama This Is Where I Leave You. The rumored premise for the movie mentioned that the character of Ryan Reynolds would travel back in time to meet his 13-year-old self to get help. When he travels back in time, he and his younger-self encounter their father—at the same age as Reynolds.

The project is just a confirmation, and it would take a year or two to hit theaters because everyone related to this project has a busy schedule for at least the next year. Skydance is set to release Top Gun: Maverick, Snake Eyes, Mission Impossible 7 & 8 (all with Paramount), and The Old Guard (with Netflix). On the other hand, Levy is busy for the upcoming season of Stranger Things, while Reynolds has packed calendars for Red Notice and The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard.
