The British period drama series Peaky Blinders will be back for a sixth season. The popular BBC drama series will probably make a comeback in early 2021. Peaky Blinders last had its stint in August 2019 with the fifth season. The series ended on a cliff-hanger making the fans wait for the new season even tougher.
Peaky Blinders is set in the post-World War I years in Birmingham, United Kingdom. It revolved around the activities and rise of a gang based in Birmingham called the Peaky Blinders. The series features the rise of the gang led by Thomas Shelby. Their rise from being a gang based in Birmingham to an influential power in the country is portrayed in an excellent manner in the series.
The series has had 5 seasons so far. All of them have been critically and commercially successful. The series enjoys wide popularity and a global fan base. The series has never fallen below 90% in Rotten Tomatoes ratings. Critics have lauded the series for almost everything from its making, cinematography, and plotline. The cast led by Cillian Murphy has put up an outstanding performance so far. The viewership has risen from 2.3 million in the first season to an amazing 7.5 million in the fifth.
SEASON 6 PLOTLINE
The fifth season ended on a rather unpleasant note. We saw Tommy’s plans going down in a way he did not see it coming. It’s not strange that it does because we have seen it happening before. But nevertheless, he gets to his aim and gets what he wants. This has been far from true in the fifth season. Of course, we see Michael’s hand in all of this. His mannerisms have been suspicious since his return from America. And his proposal to take over the Shelby Private Limited showed us that he was up to no good. So, there is none to be suspected as much as Michael.
So that’s where the new season will probably begin. Thomas taking his revenge and devising another plan to get hold of Oswald Mosely and the fascists. We may see more of Tom Hardy as the shrewd Jew Alfie Solomons in the new season. We do not have an exact release date yet.
The production works began on January 26 and the filming in March. But due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the filming had to suspend. So, it may resume only when all of this calms down. So, we may see a delay more than expected this time.
Fans have been on their toes waiting for the new season. And by the way, the previous one ended, they have every right to do so. Adding to their agony was the director’s statement that the sixth season will be a tragic one. Usually, Peaky Blinders never disappoint us, so we expect it to keep up its reputation and excellence this time too. But, we have to do our bit and wait to be sure. Only then we can be sure whether the wait is going to be worth it.
