Classroom of the Elite Season 2: Will There Be Another Season? Release Date, Story Details

Classroom of the Elite truly deserves a second season, but it has been three years already since the first season aired, and it’s very unlikely that we would get another season.

The anime was adapted from a light novel series of the same name by Shōgo Kinugasa. The anime follows a story of a young and shy, Kiyotaka Ayanokōji who attends Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing School, which has only the brightest minds in the country, who will eventually run the country in distant future. However, none of the students in the institution are exactly what they appear to be.

The specialized academy consists of four classes— A, B, C, and D. Ayanokōji is the student of D class that includes inferior students in the institution. The students are daily put into unique tests and are instructed to do the most challenging tasks to improve their ranking. The anime sounds like a normal high school drama-type anime, but it is actually a dark psychological thriller that excites viewers in every episode.

The light novel—illustrated by Shunsaku Tomose and written by Shōgo Kinugasa—is one of the 2019’s top 10 bestselling novels in Japan.  The reports claim that the series, alongside other anime series like Demon Slayer and Sword Art Online, was originally developed to boost the novel or manga sales in the country, and the creators don’t have any intention to bring another season.

Furthermore, the anime adaptation was taken by Lerche studio, and the studio’s major anime production only lasts for one season. If we consider Lerche’s work habit, then it is pretty clear that the Classroom of the Elite Season 2 is obviously a no-go. Lerche has always stuck with one season for those animes, which have been commercially successful and massively popular.
