The iconic adventure-comedy franchise Jumanji has entertained the audience with hilarious movies since 1995. Although there was a long gap between the old and the new movies, the franchise has been making sequels after sequels based on the story of the same fictional board game but with different plot twists every time.
2019’s Jumanji: The Next Level is the latest and the 3rd (some may say, 2nd) installment in the series, which won the fans’ hearts just like the others. Now the fans are eagerly waiting for the next sequel to release as soon as possible. But will there be a sequel at all? Let’s break the ice.
Jumanji 4 Release Date
It’s not been a long time since Jumanji: The Next Level came out globally. The third film hit the theaters on December 13, 2019. So, we cannot expect the next film to come out that soon. However, we do have confirmation regarding the sequel!
Renowned Actor-Wrestler Dwayne “Rock” Johnson who plays the lead in the series, said in a post on his Instagram that the newly introduced character of Jurgen the Brute is an actual avatar in the film! Now this means that someone is controlling his game-play inside the game. This further means that there exists a deadlier villain lurking somewhere behind Jurgen, who will be revealed in a “potential sequel.”

The post-credits scene had already exposed the film to a possible sequel, and after this stirring announcement by the Rock, the obsession for it has been induced.
This was later addressed by Jake Kasdan, the director of the last two movies in the franchise, when he said that the follow-up movie is currently in the development phase, and so is the plot as he chose not to reveal anything about it.
As for the release date and official trailer, nothing has been disclosed yet. Sticking to the pattern of the previous releases, we can expect Jumanji 4 by the end of 2021 or early 2022. The filming has not yet started, so there’s obviously no trailer either.
What to Expect from Jumanji 4?
In the last movie, something highly awaited finally happened- the collision of the virtual and the real world.
Yes! Just like in 1995’s Jumanji in which we directly saw the animals from the board game get unleashed into the real world, the post-credits scene of Jumanji: The Next Level showed exactly the same thing as a flock of ostriches passed by when Spencer and his team were having a peaceful dinner.
Typical Jumanji way, right? We don’t know how the gang will tackle this, but it’ll definitely be something hilarious. Like mentioned earlier, the story of Jurgen the Brute will also move ahead with more exciting plot twists as a new villain will be unveiled.
However, there’s no confirmation given by the makers concerning the story. These are all purely fan speculations and theories.
The Cast of Jumanji 4
A sequel without the magnificent 5, who’ve introduced the series to new horizons, would be a bit hard to imagine. Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, and Jack Black are the ones to make the series a perfect watch for people from all age groups with the presence of their giggling modern-style comedy. So, these five are definitely in the frame.
The rest of the cast may include Awkwafina as Ming, Danny DeVito as Eddie, Danny Glover as Milo, and Alex Wolff as Spencer.
For the antagonists, we’ll have the famous Game of Thrones actor Rory McCann reprise his role as Jurgen and the “unknown” new villain. We await the final say about the cast by the officials.
Well, the game is ON! (It literally is). We’ll shortly explore the jungle world once again as the characters spice things up for us like always.
