I think she wanted the world to take it seriously as an example of art-house film-making, so in this, ahem, review, I am attempting to do just that. It’s a tough ask, though. A sub-five-minute found-footage horror short with its tongue jammed hard in its cheek, among other places, the video tracks the reality television star as she slithers through the aftermath of a chaotic Christmas party in a matted blonde Marilyn Monroe wig, while being filmed by an initially unknown observer who turns out to be Macaulay Culkin in a Santa suit.

The video opens on a close-up of Kardashian who slides down a wall as if recently harpooned by a tranquilliser gun, and then follows her as she crawls past a potpourri of retro all-American grotesques, from American Psycho-vintage Wall Street types barking into landlines to a flexing bodybuilder and zombified grannies glued to a glowing CRT tube.

Plus a doorway glimpse of two suited men sinisterly caressing a third man in a squirrel suit, just to tick the ‘Hello, we have seen The Shining’ box.

Of course that cameo from Macaulay Culkin is redolent of meaning, of sorts, too. The actor’s work in the first two Home Alone films made him a beloved fixture of millennial childhoods, but he later became estranged from his father and struggled with substance abuse. In other words, everything you love has a satanic subtext and all nice things eventually rot. A very happy Christmas to you too, Kim.

And as for Kim portraying herself as Monroe, that’s a trope she’s used before – most famously when she wore Marilyn’s dress to the Met Gala. Here we have Marilyn brought low – literally – as indeed she was in life, by drugs, men and more. Beauty besmirched, I think we’re meant to think. Though Kardashian’s slithering about isn’t very interesting, and chiefly ends up looking like an advert for her Skims underwear range.
