All he has to do is click two small gadgets together, and the Entity will be a Non-Entity.
One of these gadgets is a box containing the Entity’s source code, which is currently in a wrecked submarine – hence a deep sea-diving set piece which gets full marks for spookiness, and no marks for excitement. (How long do you want to spend watching Tom Cruise in scuba gear, muttering about the Entity, before realising that this is not a film about action, but about a bunch of people talking about the Entity?)
