EDGE OF TOMORROW 2: Live, Die, Repeat and Repeat production confirmed by Warner Bros.

After five long years, director Doug Liman has confirmed that Edge of Tomorrow 2 will start production as soon as possible.

Although Liman will maintain almost everything that was in the last movie, some drastic changes have been made. For instance, the name has been changed to ‘Live, Die, Repeat and Repeat.’ This was the slogan used for the last movie and appeared on the poster. The director has confirmed that there will be a second part but the cast has not yet been confirmed.

Blunt was busy with her project, ‘Mary Poppins’ and Tom Cruise was filming ‘Mission Impossible’. Cruise did ask Blunt whether she would star in the movie but she has to yet to confirm. The stars will only confirm after the full script has been made and read by them.

The announcement was first made in 2015 by Liman, and then confirmed in 2016 but there was no news after until the title of the movie was selected in 2017.

Liman says that although it is a sequel of the first movie, he wants it to be something different. He insists that the script is even better than that of the original movie. He plans on making the sequel as a prequel, but will continue the main story line.

“If I’m going to do a sequel for the first time in my life I want to make it the opposite of what you’d expect from a sequel and we found a story that does that,” he explained. “That’s why I’m even more excited that it’s a sequel because it just takes all the baggage that you’d associate with a sequel and turned it on its head… It’s a sequel that’s a prequel. At the same time that it’s a sequel.”

Liman also suggested that the sequel would not outdo the first film because ‘a sequel should always be smaller than the original film’ and would not make the same mistake as the other directors.

He confirmed saying he wouldn’t do the film without Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. A major change in the film is the character of Master Sergeant Farell. Bill Paxton passed away in 2017 which requires the crew to cast an actor to fill his shoes. Although Warner Bros have confirmed the development of the film, it will be a long wait for any news of the film or even the trailer.
