Netflix’s latest mystery comedy film, rightly titled “Murder Mystery” follows a married couple’s misadventures on vacation. When New York police officer Nick Spitz (Adam Sandler) and his wife Audrey (Jennifer Aniston) get wrongly framed for murder while on a billionaire’s yacht party in Europe, madness ensues. The movie premiered on Netflix on Friday.
With the plot taking its inspiration from the household crime thriller staple “Murder on the Orient Express” by Agatha Christie, the movie is a pleasant, overall enjoyable experience, what is more interesting, however, is the dynamics between the two co-stars, Adam Sandler, and Jennifer Aniston. The pair have been friends for over three decades, and this is their second film together, The first one being 2011’s blockbuster Just Go With It.
AWKWARD CHEMISTRY:
Sandler revealed on the daytime show, Conan, how wife Jackie Sandler and their children Sunny and Sadie, wanted him to “go harder” during his kiss with Aniston, with whom Sandler and his family share a strong friendship, Sandler pointed out, jokingly, that Aniston was half amused and half frightened while waiting to shoot that scene.
JENNIFER’S ONE CONDITION:
“She (Aniston) sends me texts, ‘Nine days to kissing.’ Here it comes! He recalls to the crowd. He also added that Aniston had one condition out of him, to oil up that beard.
“She wanted me to have that nice, soft hair. And then when we kiss the only awkward part is hearing my wife on the side go, ‘Harder. Kiss her harder. Deeper.’ They watched the kissing. They love it. They love Aniston, and they want her to have good things, and they say, ‘Give her something nice.’ Sandler told the bemused audience.
The Friends star summarised the entire situation in just three words: “That was awkward.”
Murder Mystery is directed by Kyle Newacheck and is now available on Netflix for streaming.
