Warner Bros. has confirmed that Reinaldo Marcus Green is on board to direct ‘King Richard.’ The movie is about the story of the father of tennis champs Venus and Serena Williams, starring Will Smith as their father.
The biopic is based on a script by Zach Baylin, following the story of the struggle of a father to make her daughters star tennis players. The story will certainly show how his determination will power and plan to make his daughters the greatest tennis players in the world were achieved.
Serena Williams till now has won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, starting with the US Open in 1999. Her sister Venus Williams has 7 Grand Slams singles, opening with Wimbledon in 2000.
On the part of Green, he has directed ‘Monsters and Men’ which released last year. The movie told the story of a black man gunned down by police. The movie received many positive reviews about it.
Certainly, this upcoming film will have a somewhat lighter tone as compared to the filmography of Green’s. But the movie will have its fair share of dark tone as it will showcase the idea of when parental encouragement turns into an obsession of owns dream.
If we talk about the lead role, it has created some controversy online. This is because the color of skin tone does not match with that of Richard Williams.
Apart from that, we are much familiar with the acting skills of Will Smith’s. So it will be a great experience to witness. The movie is scheduled to be released on 25th Nov 2020.
