Netflix’s adventure series The Umbrella Academy premiered this year and immediately became a fan-favorite. Now renewed for Season 2, the show will continue to follow a ‘dysfunctional family of superheroes.’ And we’ve got all the latest updates on the new Season!
When does it premiere?
The new season is planned to have ten episodes as announced in April this year:

There’s no official release date from Netflix yet. Season 1 premiered on 15th February 2019. And showrunner Steve Blackman said a while ago that it takes “around 18 months” to film and produce each season. So we could be looking at late 2020.
Filming, though, is already on the way.

Who Does It Star?
Of course, Ellen Page is coming back for Season 2. Season 1 ended with a massive twist with a whole time travel into the past thing. But despite that, all of the main cast; Tom Hopper, David Castaneda, Emmy Raver-Lampman and Robert Sheehan is coming back to keep us blown-away with their acting. Aidan Gallagher is also returning to play Number Five, along with the beloved mannequin Dolores.
What’s Going to Happen?
While we don’t know much yet, we can expect nothing less than a brilliant season. Aidan Gallagher told Radio Times about the second season, “Will it be mind-blowing? Yes, it will be way better than season one. Our showrunner, Steve, is the best writer and has the best writing staff. It will be epic. I can’t wait to film all of it.”

If Steve Blackman sticks to the comic book series exactly, Season 2 will be about the Academy members stuck in their past-forms, trying to save the world by assassinating John F Kennedy. But it may not play out that way. Way has expressed his support should Steve want to diverge from the comics a bit, and Blackman has shown interest in some twists saying, “Things will deviate, but the goal is to try to be true to the source material.”
Either way, we all love the time-travel let’s change history by messing with the past, plots that have taken over Hollywood recently.
