Call of Duty: Modern Warfare gameplay coming soon

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s gameplay reveal is nearly at our doorstep.

Yesterday, developer Infinity Ward’s head-of-art, Joel Emslie, responded to a Reddit user’s question pertaining to why no gameplay had been displayed as of yet – stating that it was ‘almost there.’

The upcoming installation of the massively popular first-person franchise had been announced in May to much fanfare given the fact that will act as a reboot of sorts for its eponymous predecessor released all the way back in 2007, one which remains arguably the most beloved title of publisher Activision’s flagship series more than a decade onward.

Yet, details about the game remain thin, with Infinity Ward has given little information about whether it will bear any resemblance whatsoever to the original Modern Warfare, or simply be a spiritual successor molded in its image.

We do know for a fact that the game will mark the comeback of Captain John Price, one of the trifecta of protagonists that held center-stage throughout the Modern Warfare trilogy, although the character will be given a significant makeover for his last hurrah.

Activision has also made it clear that the game will tread on fine margins when it comes to controversy, mentioning that Modern Warfare’s story will derive massive inspiration from contemporary times and have a political stance of its own while putting players in tight situations which will often require morally ambiguous decision something that made headlines at this year’s E3 showcase.

Though the game had a minimala very limited presence at the expo, various videogame publications noted that a demo of Modern Warfare meant for them depicted potentially sensitive subject matter, with many pointing toward the freedom it provides player to kill civilians as a red herring.

But Modern Warfare still emerged as the 2019 title with the most amount of pre-orders from E3, beating out other titles showcased at the event such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Final Fantasy 7’s remake.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will release October 25th on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
