Eminem’s biological father, Marshall Bruce Mathers Jr., has reportedly died. He was 67.
The rapper’s father died this week near Fort Wayne, Indiana. Family members and neighbors reported the incident, and the cause of death is said to be a heart attack while he was at his home.
According to Debbie, Eminem’s mother, Mathers Jr., who also went by the name Bruce, married her. That time he was 22 while she was at the age of 15.
After two years they had their son but soon split up. She and his son settled in Detroit with her family while his father moved to California. There Bruce had two more kids.
Eminem, in his interviews and his rap, has given multiple hints about his grudge against his father who abandoned him, at the time of need. In an interview, he said that his father had called sometimes to his mother but never actually talked to him.
He at his tender age, even wrote letters to his father but got no reply. So these incidents left a deep impact on him, reflecting those feelings in his hit songs like “My Name Is” and “Cleanin’ Out My Closet.”
In “Cleanin’ Out My Closet” … he rapped, “My fa***t father must’ve had his panties up in a bunch ‘Cause he split, I wonder if he even kissed me goodbye. No, I don’t, on second thought, I just f**kin’ wished he would die. I look at Hailie, and I couldn’t picture leavin’ her side.”
