Further information
In a statement, IMPD said that around 3:00 a.m., on 7.5.2019, their officers were called to an address where the male victim stated that his live-in-girlfriend and he were having a disagreement. He further added that during the difference, he was assaulted by the female while he was holding their one-year-old child. The female in the said case was later identified as Amber Portwood. According to sources officers made the arrest only after interacting with the couple. There’s no news on whether Portwood remains in custody. The case will be sent to Marion County Prosecutor’s Office for reviewing and police has also informed the Indiana Department of Child Services about the situation.
Previous entanglements with the law
The issue came to the police when a responder received a text on a 911 stating that their life and their son’s life is in danger. There’s no news on what course of action would the Prosecutor’s Office follow. Things also seem grim for Portwood since this is not the first instance that she has gotten herself into legal trouble. She had two felony counts of domestic battery in December 2010 due to an incident with Shirley. Later she was arrested for violating her probation. She was sentenced to five years in prison on May 2012 but only served 17 months.
Kids
Portwood and Glennon have been dating since 2017. Both share a 13-month-old son James, and she is also the mother of daughter Leah, 10, with ex-fiancé, Gary Shirley. Shirley had full custody of daughter Leah after the domestic battery in December 2010.
