Principal photography for director Nisha Ganatara’s ‘Covers’ has started with full steam ahead, indeed.
Written by Flora Greeson and produced by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title Films, the romantic-comedy will explore the ins and outs of the Hollywood music industry.
Actress Dakota Johnson, of Fifty Shades of Grey fame, was announced to have been cast as the protagonist back in May this year, though the production house has kept any more details to a minimum.
Of course, the actress has been the target of a spate of unfortunate speculation subsequent to her recent breakup with her boyfriend of an year-and-a-half, Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin, with a plethora of tabloids having suspected that the couple called it quits after a months-long disagreement on the question of whether or not to have children and start a family together.

Starring alongside Johnson will be the legendary Tracee Ellis Ross, coming off the back of a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for the hugely popular sitcom Black-ish.
‘Covers’ also attracted headlines in June after the decision to cast hip-hop icon Ice Cube was made public, something that makes the film’s potential even more compelling given the fact that it has chosen to recruit a figure who has experienced the underbelly and workings of the American music industry for the best part of three decades like very few others have.
The film’s aforementioned lead ensemble were spotted together in Los Angeles this week, and principal photography is expected to conclude sometime this fall.

Distributed by Focus Features, ‘Covers’ will hit theaters sometime in the early months of 2020, and an official confirmation is set to arrive very soon.
