The American rapper late Tupac Shakur‘s love letter to Madonna will soon be up for auction.
Tupac wrote the breakup letter in the month of January 1995 at 4:30 am. The letter takes on an apologetic side of the late rapper. It is a three-page breakup note. Tupac and Madonna dated briefly before his death in 1996.
In the letter, the late rapper writes that “I must apologize to you,” He continues, “Because like you said I haven’t been the kind of friend I know I am capable of being. Not because I am evil or because you weren’t worthy, but at the risk of sounding overdramatic, the effects of racism make it difficult for a young black man to properly show affection for an older white woman.”Tupac discussed his fear of dying soon and warns Madonna to be safe. “Please be careful Madonna. Everyone is not as honourable as they seem. There are those whose hearts bleed with envy & evil. They would not hesitate to do you harm! Let my 5 bullets be proof of that!”
The letter was put up for auction in 2017 by the online bidding site Gotta Have Rock and Roll. Along with the letter, many personal items of Madonna, which went missing during her move from Miami in the year 2004 were also being auctioned.
In 2017, the bidding on the letter had reached $100,000. However, Madonna tried to stop the auction temporarily by filing a court order. Madonna applied to a New York City court her popularity, “does not obviate my right to maintain my privacy, including with regard to highly personal items.” The case was dismissed by a New York judge last year. The court stated that the items were now the property of the auction company. Thus, they can open the path for their sale.
The letter will be up for auction on the website of gottahaverockandroll.com on 17th of July 2019. The letter is for sale for $300,000.
Darlene Lutz Madonna’s former friend, consultant, and a cancer survivor, will donate some portion of the proceeds to breastcancer.org.
