It’s saddening when a moment of happiness converts into a shocking one. This happened when a woman gave birth to a child having three heads. The unusual birth of the newborn daughter taken place on last Thursday in India. It shocked even the doctors, along with the family members.
Baby Girl With Three Heads
As per reports, the mother of the daughter in the talk was admitted to the hospital after experiencing extreme pain in the build-up to her labor. But the birth surprised everyone around there in the health center of Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district. The relatives were stunned by seeing their new family member with three heads. The doctors were surprised too.
What Doctor’s Stated?
The newborn girl reportedly has two protrusions that are formed from the back of her skull. Medical science termed this defect as encephaloceles. The mother is alright, and according to the doctors of the health center, there were no complications in her pregnancy. Due to the lack of medical facilities in the health center, she was later referred to the District Hospital. There, doctors explained that firstly, a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan, would be conducted. With the help of an MRI scan, they will be able to determine the medical condition due to which the abnormality was caused in the baby girl.
Rare Condition
If we go by the previous such cases then “This is a very rare medical condition,” as Rajesh Thakur, Chief Medical Superintendent, District Hospital, Etah stated. He further explained that “The child’s body has not fully developed. We will perform an MRI scan and then perform surgery to separate the ‘heads’”.
What Is The Defect?
Though the condition can barely found in the world, some cases of babies taking birth with more than one head were reported in other parts too, especially in African nations. The defect is called encephaloceles. By NHS its termed as a state where a part of the skull hasn’t formed properly due to a rare congenital type of neural tube defect. This formed a protrusion because of the defect lefts some brain’s tissue and other structures outside the skull.
