Quentin Tarantino has revealed earlier that all his projects were personal to him. He admitted it that in the case of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, it was his most personal movie. But this famous and talented director has taken some artistic liberty to mold the original harsh incident which happened way back in 1969.
This incident which happened on August 8, 1969, involved two parties; the one who was killed and the one who killed them. Charles Mason and his family were the culprits of the murders.
Mason Family was like a cult group of young women and girls led by Charles Mason. Mason was no ordinary person. He had his influence in the music industry. Â In reality, he actually picked vulnerable young women and girls and then manipulating them to suit his purpose. He inculcated unreasonable beliefs in these young girls, which ultimately led to the murder of innocents.
During the summer of that year, Roman Polanski, Polish film director and Sharon Tate, American actress, who was married, moved to 10050 Cielo Drive in Los Angeles. Tate was an emerging star. Though in the movie, it was shown that the character of Leonardo DiCaprio’s character, Rick Dalton lived next door to the couple’s, but in reality, there was no Rick Dalton.
On August 8, 1969, Mason ordered his henchmen to go to 10050 Cielo Drive and kill everyone there. So his four followers went there and murdered Tate as well as her friends who were at home. That time Polanski was in Europe, so he lived.
In that unfortunate incident, Tate, Folger, Frykowski, and Sebring have killed apart from them, a teenager named Steven Parent was also killed. Tate was eight months pregnant.
In the movie, Sharon Tate lived as Mason’s henchmen were earlier confronted by Cliff (Brad Pitt) and Rick (Leonardo DiCaprio). Hence they had to work for a new plan to kill Cliff and Rick.
