AMAZON CANCELS 5 SHOWS INCLUDING THE ROMANOFF’S
It seems that it is the end of the line for The Romanoffs. The next season for the series has been canceled after a single season with eight episodes.
The eight-episode American web series is a drama anthology from Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner. The series follows eight separate stories centering on characters who believe to be the descendants of the Russian royal family. It was released on October 2018.
Amazon Studios announced the renewal of a bunch of new series that might make the fans happy during the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour. At the TCAs, Amazon Studios also revealed that acclaimed shows like Forever, Patriot, The Romanoffs, Lore and Too Old to Die Young have all been canceled with three of them getting the ax after just one season.
REASONS FOR THE CANCELLATION
Out of the five, The Romanoffs is arguably the most high profile casualty. Weiner’s much-hyped update to Mad Men probably failed to strike a chord between critics and audience after its debut in last fall. The series failed to resonate with an audience despite an impressive cast including Isabelle Huppert, Marthe Keller, Diane Lane, etc.

The final nail in the coffin likely arrived last week when the series walked off with zero Emmy nominations. The performance of the shows made it difficult for the network to continue broadcasting these sows, which ended up in the cancellation of these shows.
All of these series cancellations are surprising to some degree. The reason for cancellation includes a change in the strategy of the Amazon. Maybe other services or networks will decide to pick up these projects in the future, but for now, we can consider it as the end of these shows.
The fans are hoping that these shows will be aired again with a better and stronger storyline that would grab the attention of more audience and earn recognition from critics.
