YouTube star Grand Thompson who ran the popular channel ‘The King of Random’ died at 38 in Utah.
He had gone out for paragliding to Sand Hollow State Park on Monday evening. His family began to grow worried when he didn’t return and filed a missing person complaint.
TMZÂ reported that authorities from the Washington County Sheriff’s Officer were on the search and recovered his body on Tuesday morning (30 July). There were able to track his body using his last known GPS co-ordinates and a search helicopter. They found paragliding equipment as well as a recording device at the crash site. Footage from the device will be reviewed later to uncover the exact cause of the crash.
A tribute video titled “Grant Thompson, in Memoriam” was uploaded to The King of Random YouTube channel this morning, garnering close to 3 million views. The description of the video broke the news to the fans and expressed Grant’s love for his fans. It also urged fans to do a random act of kindness today in Grant’s honor.
Grant Thompson created his channel ‘The King of Random’ in 2010 and gained a following of 11 million subscribers and garnered a total of 2.5 billion views. His ‘How to Make LEGO Gummy Candy!’ was the most watched video on the channel, standing at 34.3 million views.
YouTube released an official statement offering condolences to Grant’s family and praising him. Fellow YouTuber, Logan Paul, who collaborated with Grant, also shared his grief at this news in a tweet.
