Baabhubali star Rana Daggubati is all set to co-produce the biopic of Sri Lankan bowler Muttiah Muralitharan starring Vijay Sethupathi.
According to the latest announcement on July 30, Rana Daggubati has teamed up with DAR Media Pvt. Ltd. to produce the movie. Rana confirmed the news on Twitter, and he tweeted “Suresh Productions is going to be associated with DAR films in telling the story of a legend through legendary actor- #VijaySethupathi as #MuttiahMuralitharan... The film will show the emotional journey of the cricketer. He holds the record for having the most wickets in International Test as well as One Day cricket. He announced his retirement in 2010 and started his career as a bowling coach.
VIJAY’S CONFIRMATION FOR THE MOVIE
Vijay himself has confirmed the news of him playing the role. On being signed in the movie, he stated: “Portraying the character of Muralitharan is going to be a challenge for me, and I’m looking forward to it. I’m delighted that Murali himself will be closely involved with the project and guiding me on cricketing aspects. I’m thankful to both Murali and the producers for the faith bestowed on me.”
M.S. Sripathy will be directing the movie. The project will go on floor from December. The other details have not been revealed yet. The makers are currently on a hunt to cast different actors for the film. The movie is rumored to be titled ‘800’. It signifies the number of Test wickets taken by the bowler. The film might hit the screens by the end of next year. The film will be made in Tamil and will be released in different languages.
The anticipation for the movie is building up after the announcement. Rana’s production house’s latest film ‘Oh Baby’ which featured Samantha Akkineni and Naga Shaurya was a blockbuster. There are high expectations from the movie.
