Tyrese Gibson has been publicly unhappy with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson since his spinoff film Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw was announced. And once again in his now-deleted Instagram post, he takes another hit at the franchise, proving just that.
Mocking Supposedly Low Box Office Returns
Reigniting his ongoing feud with Johnson, the actor took to Instagram to post a screenshot of a news article that read “Hobbs & Shaw Has Lowest Fast & Furious Box Office Opening Since Tokyo Drift.” He captioned the post with a decent anger-lashing at the film’s earnings, saying, “I have to show my respects for one thing…. He tried…….. Folks called me a hater…. Attacked me for speaking out…..Breaking up the family clearly doesn’t have the value that one would assume it does.”
His post continued with his views on what the true fans who supported fast and furious for 20 years really want to see, which would be, “The Rock and the crew will come dance with us again for #Fast10 we can all hug it out. No hating I’m just pointing out the facts,” he wrote.
What His Words Really Mean
Tyrese’s hatred for the Rock stems from his belief that Dwayne is taking center stage in the Fast and Furious franchise when it’s really about a family. “Breaking up the family clearly doesn’t have the value,” he says, poking fun at the box office returns that Hobbs and Shaw have seen. But it’s worth noting here that Hobbs and Shaw made $180 million worldwide on it’s opening night, which is well, not exactly a disappointment. Gibson probably has high standards.
Some are also of the opinion that Gibson is annoyed because of Hobbs and Shaw, when announced in 2017, but the release of Fast and Furious 9 on hold till 2020.
The Rock hasn’t responded to Gibson’s now-deleted comments yet, but Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is now streaming worldwide, and it is every bit worth the hype!
