According to some leaks and rumors, two of Ubisoft’s titles will have upcoming sequels, namely “Watch Dogs 3” and “Assassin’s Creed” which is codenamed “Legion”. Watch Dogs 3 is expected to release in 2019 whereas the Assassin’s Creed will arrive in 2020. Both are designed for current as well as next-gen systems.
Players have spotted a teaser for Assassin’s Creed in Division 2, in the form of a poster displayed in the game. The poster depicts a character dressed in Viking garb holding what appears to be a Piece of Eden. The word ‘Valhalla’ in the poster also directs towards The Viking Age setting.
Apparently, the game is developed by Ubisoft Montreal and will feature support from Ubisoft Sofia. It will be a cross-platform game between the current generation of console and the Xbox Scarlett and PlayStation 5.
Actual name of the game is Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok. It is also rumored to be called ‘Kingdom’. It will be set in Italy, towards the end of the reign of Marcus Aurelius. The map is split into several kingdoms and kingdoms are split into regions that can hold settlements. The protagonist is an ally of Ragnar Lodbrok and aids in the formation of the Great Heathen Army.
The players will be given a choice to play as ‘Cassius’ or ‘Lucia’, descendants of the characters from the Assassin’s Creed’s earlier games, “Origins” and “Odyssey”. RPG mechanics, eagle, and ship combat will all return in the game. Ship combat is toned down to focus more on exploration. The game is more focused on the exploration and making players want to explore locations for better loot. The main plot is expected to revolve around assassins and politics.
Through rumors, it seems that the next Assassin’s Creed will be a lot like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. If the game is a follow-up to Odyssey in terms of content, then there are possibilities that the same fatigue could emerge. From a business point of view, Ubisoft can follow-up the same formula since it is a model that worked out for them. It would thus appeal both the new and old fans.
Ubisoft is yet to formally announce the existence of a new Assassin’s Creed beyond a few teasers of the game in Division 2. So the release date is not known but is expected to arrive in 2020.
According to some sources and a deleted tweet from Nibel, Ubisoft’s sequel of another title, Watch Dog 3 is set to release this year.
Watch Dogs is an action-adventure video game and was released worldwide on May 27, 2014, for Microsoft Windows, PS 3, PS 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. It’s sequel Watch Dog 2 was released in November 2016.
The series has so far been set in Chicago and San Francisco. A patch that rolled out a few months after the release of Watch Dogs 2 gave a hint at a London setting of the sequel.
Not only has it been rumored for a while now, with the London setting, but it’s also been two years since the last game came out. Ubisoft has already confirmed its place on E3 2019 schedule.
The game will focus more on smaller firearms and knives for combat with a larger emphasis on hacking. Hence, there will be fewer lethal weapons. It also allows the player to choose whether to be a male or a female character. The plot will remain the same no matter what is the choice of character.
Watch Dogs 2 introduced us to a rival bunch of amoral mercenary hackers who crop up multiple times to make your life difficult. In Watch Dogs 3 it would be great to witness more hacker groups and also feel their presence whenever you are operating near their base.
Ubisoft currently plans to release Watch Dogs 3 sometime in November. However, keeping it’s postponing pattern in mind, there might be some delay. So, the gamers need not be despised in case of some delay.
