Viz Media has now officially confirmed the sequel of popular anime Inuyasha is in the works. The anime is based on the manga series created by Rumiko Takahashi, and the sequel is more of a spin-off anime series that will take place after the events of Inuyasha.
The confirmation also revealed the official English title— Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon—and it will take place in the Inuyasha universe but follows the journey of Sesshomaru’s and Inuyasha’s daughters. Viz Media has also revealed the potential story details for the upcoming Inuyasha sequel.
The original staff from the Inuyasha will return for the sequel, and Rumiko Takahashi, the original creator, will design the primary characters for the sequel. The series will be produced by a Japanese production studio called Sunrise Inc. with Katsuyuki Sumisawa returning to write the scripts. Yoshihito Hishinuma will help in the designing of every anime character in the upcoming sequel.
Story Details
The sequel will also deal with the same portal, in which Kogame stuck herself in the original series. The half-demon twins named Towa and Setsuna are separated from each other after a deadly fire in the jungle, and Towa finds herself in a tunnel that takes her to present-day Japan. Sota finds the lost Towa and raises her in his family. After 10 years, the mysterious tunnel re-opens, and Towa is again reunited with her long-lost sister, Setsuna. But Setsuna has become a demon slayer and works for Kohaku. Furthermore, Setsuna doesn’t have any memory about her beloved sister, Towa. Now, the sisters accompanied by Inuyasha’s daughter march on a journey to find about their past.
The animation studio has provided the confirmed news about an upcoming sequel, but the release date is still a mystery. The works for the forthcoming sequel might have been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. If the animations studio returns in business later this year, then we can expect the new anime series in the 2021 summer anime season.
