F-16s were used by Pakistan on Wednesday, IAF Shows Proof

On Thursday at 7 pm, Heads of India’s Three armed forces, Army, Navy and the Air Force conducted a Joint press briefing in New Delhi. Airforce’s Air Vice Marshal RGK Kapoor, Navy’s Rear Admiral DS Gujral and Army’s Major General Surendra Singh Mahal were present at the joint press conference and provided more insight with regards to what had happened during Pakistan’s infiltration attempt.

Airforce’s Air Vice Marshal RGK Kapoor first clarified that multiple Pakistani F-16 tried to cross the LOC and infiltrate India’s Air Space to target and destroy several Indian Military Targets. But due to the swift response by Indian Air Force’s Mig-21 Bison this attempt was thwarted, he added.

He also showed part of an American made AIM-120 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile or AMRAAM which was recovered east of Rajouri within the Indian territory. AIM-120 is an American made missile used for targeting air target from short to medium range. As it could be seen that AIM-120 is written on the missile wreckage.

AIM-120 is an American missile which is heavily used by Pakistan’s Air Force on their F-16. Kapoor added, “One Pakistani F-16 was shot down by an IAF MiG 21 Bison Aircraft. East of Rajouri, parts of F-16 have been recovered, inside Indian territory.”

He also said that IAF is very happy with Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman return tomorrow. Abhinandan Varthaman was the one piloting the Mig-21 bison and intercepted PAF F-16.
