Women Attacked by Jaguar while taking selfie, Wildlife World Zoo, Arizona


    Litchfield Park, Arizona: A woman was attacked by a Jaguar at the Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium & Safari Park in Arizona. Zoo officials and eyewitnesses say that she crossed the safety barrier and was trying to take a selfie when the Jaguar attacked.

    After the attack, the woman (who is not named by the official) taken to the hospital. Although her injuries were non-life-threatening, the Jaguar latched onto her arm and made a pretty ugly wound.

    Wildlife World Zoo made a statement on their Facebook page saying, “We regret to inform that this evening, before closing there was an incident reported involving a guest, who crossed over the barrier to get a photo, according to eye witnesses.”

    They added “The visitor sustained non-life threatening injuries to their arm from one of our female jaguars. At the request of the family, paramedics were called. At no time was the animal out of its enclosure. The incident is being fully investigated.”

    Park guest Adam Wilkerson, a park visitor who was there at the time recorded the who incident and posted it on social media. The video below shows how the severely the Jaguar bit the woman’s arm. The woman could be seen moaning in the pain and people are helping her.

    Wilkerson’s mother who was also there at the scene said to Phoenix station AZ Family, “My mom runs up and takes her water bottle and shoves it through the cage near where the jaguar is, and the jaguar goes to let go of the girl to take the water bottle,”

    The director of Wildlife World Zoo, Mickey Ollson made a statement that the Jaguat won’t be harmed for bad “human behavior.” He also added, “Every time that you have an incident in a zoo, you’re going to double check it and meet with your staff try to figure out a way to stop that incident from happening again. But again, when people do not respect the barriers, there’s always a chance there might be a problem.”

    The woman is reportedly in stable condition right now but there are no more details made available by the officials.
