Keanu Reeves Talks about John Wick Chapter 3 & his ‘Speed 2 incident’

With the release date of one of the most awaited movies of the year ‘John Wick: Chapter 3-Parabellum‘ approaching, Keanu Reeves revealed some unshared secrets with the media. When talking to GQ, the Matrix actor revealed that he was shunned from Fox movie studio for a solid 14 years after he turned down Speed 2.

After the grand success of the first Speed movie in 1994. Reeves was contacted to reprise the role of LAPD SWAT officer Jack Traven in the sequel. Instead, he chose to star in a production of Hamlet instead, for the Manitoba Theater Centre in Winnipeg.

Fox was completely annoyed by Reeves’ decision. It was quite obvious because of the first movie grossed over $350 million from a $30 million budget. Fox somehow produced a Speed sequel ‘Speed 2: Cruise Control’ with new leads Jason Patric and Sandra Bullock. But, the movie went to become a box office bomb. But finally, Fox made a film with Reeves in 2008 ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still’.

Talking about John Wick, Reeves said he loves the huge fanbase for the series and will continue the titular role ‘as far as his legs can take him, as far as the audience wants to go’.

In John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the retired assassin now has a $14 million bounty on his head after breaking hitman rules in the second movie. Now he has to fight the world all alone. The movie hits the screens on May 17.
