The promotional single of Purpose, “I’ll Show You,” was shot in Iceland. Bieber went to the Fjadrárgljúfur canyon for capturing a cinematic video showing him running through the lush landscape. He was seen admiring the canyon’s natural waterfalls and taking a dip in a glacier-filled body of water in a pair of Calvin Klein boxer briefs.

The video became quite popular and had reached almost 445 million views on Youtube. This also encouraged his fans to follow in his footsteps, overwhelming the sensitive terrain.

In an attempt to correct the environmental damage, it has been decided to let the canyon to remain closed for most of the year. It will be open for only five weeks and will plan to reopen only if the weather conditions are stable enough to allow new visitors.

Land ranger Hanna Jóhannsdóttir said that the urge to visit the canyon is extremely high among the tourists. They will ignore the signs, hop fences and offer bribes to gain entry. Food from their native country is the most common form of bribery.

Environment Minister Gudmundur Ingi Gudbrandsson, however, clarifies that it would be ‘a bit too to simply blame the entire situation on Justin Bieber.’
