A few days ago the CW network who is responsible for bringing many DC superheroes to the Television such as Arrow, Flash and Supergirl released the first trailer for their upcoming live-action adaptation for Batwoman.
Although many fans were excited for the Batwoman show as it was starring Ruby Rose who is famously known for her roles in the John Wick franchise and The Meg. However, the trailer was not received well by the Fans at all.
The Batwoman trailer which was released on May 16 currently sits at 66 thousand likes and a massive 260 thousand dislikes which is almost 4 times the number of likes. This is astonishing because Batwoman is one of the most liked characters and female superhero in the DC universe. So what prompted this outrage by the fans.
The major complaint that the trailer is getting is not with Ruby Rose herself or the cast but the writing. In the trailer, there are several lines such as “I am not going to let a man take credit for a woman’s work” and fans have pointed out that this is not faithful to the comics.
And this is not the first time fans have called out CW for their over-feminization of characters and pushing a certain political narrative. So, how good this adaptation of Batwoman will do we’ll only know after it is released but we do know that it had a rough start, for now.
