John Krasinski’s British Comedy Show “The Office” is Leaving Netflix in 2021?

“The Office” is the No. 1 series showed on Netflix. According to a statement from NBCU, the show was streamed for more than 52 billion minutes in 2018. That is exactly twice as many as the next-viewed program, NBCU said.

The show was an American remake of a British comedy and cast Steve Carell, Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, and others.

But on a sad notice, NBCU like other media companies have decided to stop licensing programming to Netflix to build competing digital services of their own.

“The Office’ has become a staple of pop-culture and is a rare gem whose relevance continues to grow at a time when fans have more entertainment choices than ever before,” said Bonnie Hammer, Chairman of NBCUniversal Direct-to-Consumer and Digital Enterprises in an interview.John Krasinski's British Comedy Show "The Office"

“The Office,” which ran successfully for nine seasons on the NBC broadcast network from 2005 to 2013 and generated 200 episodes, have indeed not released it’s public viewership data for Netflix.

“We’re sad that NBC has decided to take ‘The Office’ back for its streaming platform,” said a Netflix spokesman.

He also added that the members could binge watch the show to their heart’s content, on Netflix til January 2021 along with the other great TV series that Netflix has got coming.

NBC has wrestled with what content to license to third-party services like Netflix and Amazon. Subsequently, this  decision may convince more people to sign up for NBC’s streaming service, which eventually will be driven by advertising
