No future for The Punisher Season 3 on Netflix?

The fate of The Punisher’s season 3 on Netflix has ended at a very drastic note. Where in February 2018, the streaming platform canceled the release of series alongside Jessica Jones. But, as the third season of Jessica Jones’ has already hit the ground from 14th June 2019, the fans are again expecting the next franchise of The Punisher. However, we know that the Marvel-Netflix world is over and The Punisher, for sure will not premiere on Netflix at least.

Why No Marvel Series on Netflix?

The cancellation happened due to the termination of the licensing deal between Disney, the owner of Marvel, and Netflix. As per the agreement, Netflix was authorized to use Marvel characters. Also, the popular platform was the fundraiser for production. Notably, Disney, which has launched its streaming services as ‘Disney+’ will directly compete to Netflix. After this, it was in Netflix interest to decimate the deal.

Though there is a lack of official confirmation from Netflix or Marvel, some persons in the known COnfirmed the reports. Actor Royce Johnson, who portrayed Detective Brett Mahoney in Marvel series like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and The Punisher, stated about a “two-year clause,” to ComicBook.com.

He said, “There is a clause that I heard through rumor that we have to wait 18 months, up to two years.”

While answering about the cast, Johnson expressed “Will we get the same people? We don’t know that.” But if reports are anything to go by then we can have hope for Amber Rose Revah, Jason R Moore, Josh Stewart Amy Bendix, and even Floriana Lima.

What Next in Punisher Season 3?

Jessica Jones’ Season 3 will be the last Marvel series that has marked its presence on Netflix because other Marvel series Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist were already kept on the back burner by Netflix.  But the speculations are high that ‘Disney+’ or other streaming platforms will adopt the characters and storyline. Mainly to take advantage of a built-in audience. One of the recent statements also put forward the possibility of wrapping up these series on Hulu.

As of now, we can’t expect a release date or any trailer and teaser soon. But, what’s the highlight is that Netflix will not serve these Marvel series to you anymore.
