Something is Fishy with 13 Reasons Why: Its All Over Reddit, But What?

No one can deny the fact that 13 Reasons Why is one of the most controversial and binge-watched shows on Netflix. Let’s see what more is there to the show.

Season 3 will release this year…

It’s confirmed that the third season of 13 Reasons Why will be released in 2019, but as such, there’s no date. So, we don’t know when the new season will be released this year.

The second season of the show ended with a major cliffhanger in which Tyler, traumatized by his rape, takes a gun to his school with the intention of a mass shooting. But Clay stops him from his plan. So, the last scene had Clay with Tyler’s gun in his hands and the sound of police sirens approaching.

Controversies and audience response…

The ending of the episode had the audience with differing views. On Reddit, many viewers commented that they wanted Tyler to go on with his mass shooting plan. It’s disturbing to see that some viewers wanted such a scene to occur to sympathize for what happened with Tyler. Doesn’t it point to the fact that the viewers are getting affected, emotionally, and mentally by the show and that too not in the right way? How can anyone justify revenge mass killing?

On the other hand, some thought that it was good that the scene didn’t happen, considering the mass killing, which had recently occurred in one of the schools. Undoubtedly, the most disturbing scene of the two seasons is Tyler’s rape scene. That scene earned a major backlashing for the show with viewers saying that it was unnecessarily graphic and might be triggering for the young teenagers who make the largest chunk of the audience.

What happens in 13 Reasons Why season 3…

In the third season of 13 Reasons Why, we’ll see what happens to Clay. How Tyler deals with his trauma and his relationship with Mackenzie; what Chloe will do about her pregnancy, what happens to Jessica, Alex, Justin, etc. Probably, gun violence and abortion among teens will be focused on in the new season. We won’t be seeing much of Hannah as Langford has officially said goodbye to her character.

Netflix

With the start of its first season only, the show has been in many controversies. It glorifies revenge suicides which is actually the whole plot in the first season with Hannah slitting her wrists. According to a study, the suicide rates among youth spiked up after the release of the show. We hope that the third season doesn’t come up with something that will exacerbate the emotional health of the viewers.
