New Mortal Combat Movie Reboot: Cast Listing Released, Release Date, Filming Schedule And More

Another Mortal Kombat movie is on the books after 24 years, this time by Warner Bros. And we’ve compiled a list of everything you need to know about Mortal Kombat reboot 2021.

    The Release Date

Mortal Kombat is set to release on 5th May 2021. That gives it just under a year now to hit the screens. But filming is reportedly already underway in Adelaide, Australia as per an announcement from South Australia Premier Steven Marshall.

Incidentally, the movie is going to be going head to head with Sony’s Marvels of The Universe starring Noah Centineo (tough to beat, that one!) on its release date.

    Coincidence? Who knows?

    The Cast Listing

Cameras are rolling in Australia and the producers are looking for lots of people: from models to actors to martial art specialists. There’s going to be some serious action because they need wrestlers, combat fighters, cage fighters, boxers, bodybuilders, weightlifters, strongmen, and strong ladies or basically anyone under 25 and in great shape to “fit into the Mortal Kombat world.”

We don’t know who the film is going to star yet, but we can expect some good old action-movie faces with a bunch of new in the mix.

    The Credits Team

James Wan, famous for directing Saw, Dead Silence, Insidious, The Conjuring, and Furious 7 has signed on as producer for the film. Meanwhile, Simon McQuoid, first time director will be directing the film. Screenwriting is being done by Greg Russo, who was, until recently, also working on Resident Evil.

High Standards to Live Up To

It’s no secret that the first Mortal Kombat movie which released in 1995 is one is considered the best video game movie of all-time. With that and the success of Mortal Combat: Annihilation 1997 to beat, there are some serious expectations from this film.

But we’re sure it’s going to be great (should be, with a budget of  £38,000,000,). And no pressure, huh?
