The Witcher : Here all you need to know about

    Heart of the matter:

The principle shoot for The Witcher just wrapped up and we are extremely hyped to see how the show turns out. Since the day the series was announced, it was subject to speculations from everyone, who was aware of the franchise’s existence. And why wouldn’t it be? With all the fantasy settings, the characters, and action. If all goes well, this might be Netflix’s answer to Game of Thrones.

The show was initially planned to be a Netflix movie, but after considering the vast source material that is available, Netflix planned it as a series.

The show will be based on Andrzej Sapkowski‘s critically acclaimed book series just like the critically acclaimed video games by CD Projekt Red.

The show will follow the character of Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter (or Witcher) who possesses supernatural abilities. Early on Man of Steel actor, Henry Cavil was cast as Geralt.

Netflix has a plethora of shows lined up for 2019. Stranger Things (S3), Orange Is The New Black (S7), to name a few. But The Witcher might be the most anticipated one.

    Series Overview:

Netflix describes the series as, “The Witcher Geralt, a mutated monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.”

That’s a wrap on season one! I have enough grey hair to play Geralt now, but it’s been the best year of my life. So grateful to the writers, the cast, and the exceptional crew who worked their asses off to make the Continent come to life. Now, onto…

While filmmaker Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko, involved in the Polish visual effects studio Platige Image, are reportedly involved in the project. The studio previously worked on the Witcher video games.

Both Baginski and Sawko, through a press release, said, “There is a moral and intellectual depth in these books which goes beyond genre. It is a story about today and today’s challenges, hidden under a fantasy cover. It is a story about us, the monster and hero inside of all our hearts.”

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich will act as the showrunner and producer. The first season will consist of eight episodes. But it is unsure if there will be more seasons or if this will be the only self-containing season of the series.

The show will star Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, Anya Chalotra, Jodhi May along with many others.

It is speculated that the show will start streaming at the end of this year on Netflix.
