Toby Maguire to return as web slinging super hero,”Spider man”???

In many ways, we got a taste of first mainstream character from Marvel Comics on the Big Screen through Toby Maguire’s, Spider-man. It exceeded everyone’s expectation in both critical acclaims and in terms of earning. Everyone fell in love with the movie, nobody had seen anything like this before. Toby Maguire did exceptionally well portraying the goofy and charming character from the comic book. Both comic book fans and the general audience were mesmerized by it.

The movie continued to spawn into a trilogy which kept on breaking records all over. Although the third part of the movie did hit a slump in domestic earnings but was the highest grossing Spider-Man movie ever. Even though the full world response for the film was exceptional, Sony canceled the Spider-Man for any further film. What we do know is Sam Raimi did have a script for the fourth movie in the series, but he could not bring it into fruition as Sony had different plans for Spider-Man’s future.

What Raimi had to say …

“It was the most amicable and undramatic of breakups: It was simply that we had a deadline, and I couldn’t get the story to work on a level that I wanted it to work.  I was very unhappy with Spider-Man 3, and I wanted to make Spider-Man 4 to end on a very high note, the best Spider-Man of them all,” Raimi told Vulture in 2013.

Will we see Toby Maguire and Sam Raimi reuniting?

Many fans wanted the fourth movie but couldn’t get one and had forgotten about it with time. That was up until recently When Marvel reignited fans hopes by posting a mysterious teaser of Spider-Man 4 on Twitter. The teaser, showing a spider crawling atop a “4” made from webs, was posted Sunday morning with the hashtag “#MarvelComics.”

“No one is going to see this one coming,” editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski teased in a retweet.

Fans were quick to speculate Marvel working on an impending fourth movie with Toby Maguire and Sam Raimi reuniting.  But it seems very unlikely given that Marvel has moved on and Spider-Man already exists in current Marvel Universe. The more plausible explanation seems to be a Fantastic four crossover or Marvel Comics transforming Raimi’s planned Spider-Man 4 into a comic book. This puts out any chance for return of Toby Maguire as Spider-Man. Maybe this was a pipe dream, after all. Here’s hoping everything goes well and we see Raimi’s story on the Comic Books soon.
