Sony’s new action-adventure movie adapted from the video game Uncharted finally gets its release date. Developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Uncharted is a single or multi-player third-person perspective game. The game has received positive reviews for its five different installments and it is much popular in the gaming community.
A film primarily based on the Uncharted game was proposed for production for a very long time. Back in 2008, the rumors for the game-themed movie grabbed some noise but were never taken to production. The movie was in talks in 2014 and again in 2016 to get a possible release date but it was never acquired. Now finally after all these years, we have a confirmed release date of the video game adaptation to December 18, 2020.
10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg was taken on board in January after the filmmaker Shawn Levy pulled out. Spiderman’s Tom Holland portrays the game treasure hunter and main protagonist, Nathan Drake who tours across the globe to uncover historical mysteries. Bryan Cranston who played badass chemistry teacher and drug-runner Heisenberg a.k.a Walter White in Breaking Bad is expected to join the cast.
The script from writer Joe Carnahan was not admired back in 2017 and Tom Rothman, the chairman of Sony Pictures ordered a direct change in the script that ultimately resulted in Jonathan Rosenberg and Mark Walker to line up for the screenplay. Steven Spielberg is going to remake the West Side Story which is scheduled to release on the same day with Uncharted.
