A man in Missouri finds a baby mummified within a box in his mother’s freezer
37-year-old Adam Smith moved to Missouri to take care of his mother, who was battling cancer and was in her final days. After her death, when Adam was getting through her stuff, he opened a box that he was told to be containing a wedding cake top and found a frozen baby wrapped in pink fleece.
He told that “It still had skin, hair, and everything; it was mummified.”
“After that, I freaked out, put it in the box and called police right away.”
Adam’s mother lived at a house in St Louis, Missouri for about more than 20 years, and she recently died after suffering from lung cancer. Adam told the local station that her mother was a bit secretive and he opened the box out of curiosity, thinking that there could be money inside it along with a cake top.
“I’m more confused, angry,” he said. “I just want to find closure. I want to find more answers,” he added.
Adam remembered that his mother once told him about a sibling that died before he was born, he said that all that he can recall is that his mother said that ‘My oldest child would have been 21 today,”
“And that her name was ‘Jennifer.”
Adam also informed his father about the entire case, “He told me my mom was pregnant on their first date and that the next time he saw her, she wasn’t,” Adam told the police.
That box that nearly took up a quarter of every freezer Adam’s mother owned is suspected of containing the body of Adam’s little sister that might have died due to some unknown cause.
The police are investigating on the case while the body of the baby has been sent for an autopsy and Adam has given the police a sample of his DNA as well.
