Billionaire Jeffrey Epstein arrested for sex trafficking of minors.

Florida-based billionaire Jeffrey Epstein was arrested on Sunday for his alleged involvement in sex crimes involving minors. He’s expected to appear in federal court in New York on Monday officially.

About the charges

Jeffrey is indicted on charges relating to sex trafficking of minors which was brought by US prosecutors in Manhattan. This is not his first brush with the law. He previously had a major escape from the law when he got a non-prosecution deal with federal prosecutors in Miami on similar charges.

Epstein’s previous escape detailed

The controversial plea deal with Alex Acosta, U.S. attorney in Miami at the time, ensured Epstein got away from facing severe allegations by pleading guilty to charges of soliciting prostitution. He potentially got away from being guilty of charges including molesting dozens of young girls. Epstein only had to serve 13 months in prison and avoided a federal trial in the process. He was registered as a sex offender and had to pay restitution to the victims identified by the FBI.

According to Miami Herald reporter Julie Brown, Epstein came up with a sex operation where he would recruit girls — underage girls in Palm Beach, have them come to his home for a massage. Seemingly that’s what they were being asked to do, but he molested them. The authorities suspect that he has molested hundreds of girls during the five- or six-year period in Palm Beach alone. Brown further added that it is also alleged that he operated an international sex-trafficking organization around the world.

About the new charges

Kenneth Marra, U.S. District Judge,  is now deciding whether that non-prosecution agreement should still stand.

According to CBS Miami, The new charges are in a sealed indictment and involve alleged sex trafficking crimes committed between 2002 and 2005. Also, the law enforcement sources said that the prosecution alleged that the crimes occurred in both New York and Palm Beach, Florida.

Also, Epstein is charged with one count of sex trafficking and one count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and will appear for a bond hearing Monday.
