Is Designated Survivor Season 4 to be released by Netflix?


    The political, thriller drama series ‘Designated Survivor’ is has left no leaf unturned in providing edge-of-the-seat twists and turns.

    Added to the saga of suspense is now the hustle-bustle regarding the release of Season 4 of the Designated Survivor by Netflix.

    The debut twenty-one episode Season 1, followed by twenty-two episode Season 2 was initially television series aired exclusively on ABC. The ten-episode Season 3 of the infamous series created by David Guggenheim was broadcast globally only on Netflix.

    Post its premiere release, Designated Survivor was one of the most-watched series on Netflix. The finale episode of Season 3- Truth or Consequences released on June 7, 2019. It ended with Tom Kirkman (played by Kiefer Sutherland) facing the dilemma- “Do you support your TV President?”

    Kirkman hinted that though not directly involved with the genocide, Moss (played by Geoff Pierson) might have had some role to play. In midst of all these suspense theories, the viewers were left to wonder whether Kirkman really punishing Moss for dishonesty or was he, in reality, in fact, deceiving himself? Such a cliff hanger indicated the coming of a fourth season.

    Many sites officially report that Netflix has canceled the streaming of Season 4. Simon Mayo, a famous English Radio presenter said on Scala Radio that the major issue was not the number of viewers who tuned in to watch the series.

    It has also been cited that contracts were not renewed with the actors. Some news articles suggest that due to complications that arose due to variations in contracts that were made with network television and Netflix, Season 4 might be canceled.

    Netflix has released a statement saying “We are proud to have offered the fans the third season of Designated Survivor and will continue to carry all three seasons for years to come. We’re especially thankful to star and executive producer Kiefer Sutherland, who brought passion, dedication, and unforgettable performance as President Kirkman”.
