Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriend Camila Morrone hits back at online haters

Celebrities are no strangers to being on the receiving end of constant flak stemming from social media, especially when it comes to someone of actor Leonardo DiCaprio’s status.

The 44-year-old superstar has been a darling of the tabloids throughout his two-decade stint in Hollywood, with his earlier days being spent on shedding the image of an extravagant playboy the media would play him up to be. And in recent years, facing criticism for the age gaps between him and his significant others from even casual observers, a bane that has returned to haunt him recently.

DiCaprio has been in a relationship with model Camila Morrone – 22 years his junior – since the end of 2017, and whilst neither has been too public with their relationship, a litany of paparazzi photos and public appearances with one another, most recently at the premiere of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, have given fans all the credence they desire.

But controversy came chasing the couple two days ago after Morrone took to her Instagram and posted a picture slideshow featuring legendary Hollywood actors Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, with the caption underneath reading, ‘A love like this.’

Of course, fans were quick to conclude that this was intended to be an allusion to her relationship, given that Bogart was 25 years Bacall’s senior.

An armada of other observers, meanwhile, perceived the post negatively and flooded the post’s comments section with criticism targeted at her and DiCaprio’s relationship, many of the words equipped being unsavory.

This prompted the 22-year-old to respond on Friday, saying ‘Good morning people and happy Friday. I just read some of the comments on my Instagram and…my God; people are so mean and full of anger with people that they know nothing about.’

‘I guess I just hope on this Friday that people learn to live with a little less hatred and place their time and interests elsewhere. Because living without hatred feels pretty good,’ concluded the model.
