Twice’s Mina’s world tour cancelled due to extreme performance anxiety

JYP Entertainment’s headliner group Twice’s Mina will not be accompanying the rest of her band members on their remaining world tour concerts due to the sudden onset of performance anxiety, representatives of the company recently announced, further stating that ‘Mina is currently struggling with sudden extreme anxiety and insecurity towards performing on stage. No exact diagnosis has been identified yet, and we are consulting with several medical professionals to verify the cause in detail.

‘Health of our artist is our top priority, so we will do everything possible to provide the best possible measures, including medical treatment and sufficient rest for Mina’s recovery. We ask for the sincere support of fans so that Mina can recover soon’ the official statement concluded.

The ongoing world tour, entitled ‘Twicelights’, is their second large-scale international outing and has already seen the band perform in the cities of Seoul, Bangkok, and Manila, whilst remaining concerts will take place in Singapore, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Newark, Chicago, and Kuala Lumpur, with additional dates expected to be added for shows in the United Kingdom.

In response to the news of Mina’s pulling out of the tour, fans took to social media platform Twitter in droves and trended the hashtag #GetWellSoonMina.

Twice have, with boy-bands BTS and EXO, been part of the triumvirate that has dominated the pop music landscape in South Korea over the past half-a-decade, and have consistently delivered chart-topping singles since their debut back in 2015.

The group has also achieved widespread success in Japan, a notable landmark for any K-Pop act, and even ranked 3rd in the country’s Billboard end-of-the-year Artist rankings, having secured Platinum certification for their very first full-length Japanese studio album entitled BDZ back in September of 2018.

Their most recent domestic release was the extended-play entitled ‘Fancy You’ which debuted at No. 2 on Korea’s Gaon Chart and sold more than 360,000 copies in its first month of the release itself.
