“The Witcher” Season 2: Release Date pushed forward due to early filming? Plot, Casting news and More


    The show of 2019 is set to return to our TV screens soon. The Witcher managed to hold its own, despite the comparisons to the erstwhile TV juggernaut Game of Thrones.

    It is safe to say that it is currently one of the most anticipated ongoing series. Here is the lowdown on what, when and how of The Witcher Season 2

    RELEASE DATE: When will “The Witcher” Season 2 be out?

    Unfortunately, at the time of writing of this article, there is no official word on The Witcher Season 2, beyond the simple confirmation that a season 2 on the way.

    The good news is that the filming has begun.

    The Sun reported that a fan site “Redanian Intelligence” has claimed that the shooting has already begun- allegedly preponed a week ahead of schedule.

    Variety had previously claimed that the showrunners were aiming for a 2021 release.

    Filming will probably go on for around five months, which lines up perfectly for a late 2020  or early 2021 release.

    Before the fanbase starts clamoring for more, it is nice to remember that the fantasy series places importance in high production value, which includes extensive location shoots (United Kingdom, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and other places ) and special effects.

    CAST: Who will be there in “The Witcher” Season 2?

    Deadline revealed that Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, and Freya Allan are all set to reprise their roles in season two.

    Actor slash singer Mike Wood is set to join the cast as a Nilfgaardian soldier. Carmel Laniado has also been enlisted to play Violet- a character shrouded in mystery. As of now, the rumor mill is buzzing with speculations of Kristofer Hivju (best known for Game of Thrones) joining the fray.

    PLOT: What will happen in the new season?

    Currently, there are no teasers or trailers. However, executive producer, Tomek Baginski had previously told Comicbook.com that season two would mix and match from multiple Witcher books instead of a straightforward adaptation.

    Season 2 is expected to follow more of Sapkowski’s Blood of Elves. It is expected that we will get to see Ciri witcher training at Kaer Morhen.
