Reports have come out that due to an avalanche near Shipkala on the Kinnaur-Tibet border in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur district, at least 5 Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) ate feared.
Earlirer, the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA) came out with a notice, advising residents of the 5 districts to stay away from avalanche prone areas.
Due to heavy continuous snow fall and bad weather at the Kinnaur district, the risk of avalanche had increased dramatically. The meteorological department had also issued ‘orange’ and ‘red’ alerts for Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
Search and rescue operations are being carried out by ITBP and we are waiting for further updates by the authorities.
