Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) has been finally handed a solo movie after removing her entirely from the Marvel Cinematics timeline. Her character was removed along with that of Iron Man’s at the end of the studio’s 22nd film Avengers: Endgame.
Iron Man’s death was completely justified looking at his heroic past and ten years long Marvel adventure. His death was a valiant one. Whereas, that of Black Widow was totally unexpected and random.
Black Widow’s decision to trade her life for the Soul Stone on Vormir was deeply unsatisfying. Hawkeye was kept alive so that he could return to his resurrected family. According to the reports, Johansson receives a massive $20m-a-movie salary. Despite, she has always been handed the role of a sidekick in the Avengers team.
She first appeared in the ‘Iron Man 2’ as an assistant to Stark. Later on, she played the role of a wise best friend, sometimes Hulk’s love interest and an Avengers member in various movies. She never got enough screentime and a chance to grow.
The upcoming Black Widow movie is expected to be a prequel. It will be set just after the first Avengers movie. Marvel has always tried to tell Black Widow’s story via small clips throughout the series.
Earlier, they mentioned Black Widow and Hawkeye’s infamous jaunt to Budapest in 2005. They have also mentioned her past as a Russian black-ops spy raised in the Red Room.
Now, when the movie is expected to begin filming this June at Pinewood Studios UK. It is expected that the ‘Black Widow’ will release on May 1st, 2020. The movie will also cast Rachel Weisz, David Harbour, Florence Pugh and O.T. Fagbenle.
There isn’t any reason for fans to get excited about because we all know she is dead. Apart from this, there are still minor hopes that she might return. Few theories suggest that Hulk might have resurrected her using the Infinity Gauntlet.
It is also possible that Steve Rogers might have traded the soul stone for her return. Another theory proposes that Black Widow is in the ‘Soul World’. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is expected to revolve around this topic. There she might return.
But, in a recent interview, Russo Brothers confirmed that Black Widow’s death in Endgame was permanent and irreversible. Smashing those theories completely.
